Review by Yvan Sallin

I lived a moment so intense, full of energy, power, emotion and creativity
that to mark that, I bought a poster.

Since Basel 1981, I lived live about thirty times in Basel (84, 87),
Paris, London, Zurich, Montreux, among others 90, Cernobbio, Belfort,) the
great dynasty masses. I saw the Liveaid on TV. This time I went with my
godson. There are artists who are part like Proust, Shakespeare, Hugo,
Faulkner, etc. of the general culture. He is 15 years old and Dylan closed
the saga started by Springsteen, continued by Neil Young, by the Stones.

I must admit that the setlist a little repetitive of recent years had left
me a little pensive. I had the fear of reliving the same concert in Paris
a few years ago at the Rex. It was unfamiliar to the artist, who is always
ahead of the projections of his audience. It is the characteristic of an
artist and a poet.

We arrived around 17.00 and parked the car at the outdoor parking near
the hall. The neighborhood has changed again since the last time, there is
it is true 5 years. The oval hall, of gray architecture contrasts with the
modernity of the new buildings. The bus parking of artists is protected
from the public eye by black signs. However, we distinguish the top of the
buses.

The show starts at 20.00 zero zero. Spectators arrive around 20.15. The
room is almost full. People arrive late. At 18.30, there were not 100
people in the room.

Each piece is introduced in a roundabout way, which opens various
possibilities on the piece to come yet known by the setlist delivered by
the friend Bill. Though. We have seen in the past frequent changes or more
recently, however, a few years ago, setlist changes. one evening during

What's new this time is the powerful presence of the piano. Dylan uses his
grand piano as a guitar. He gives rhythm and breathes into pieces a power
that I had not discovered in recent years. Even if the setlist on paper
had left me pensive, in concert it is very effective. The show is coherent
alternating moments of pure sound power mastered, pure power returned,
where points a great emotion (Melancoly mood). The voice is there,
beautiful, marked by age but vibrant with emotion, conviction, various
inflections at the discretion of the pieces. I loved the new arrangements
of Tangled up in… and Blowing in the Wind. The interpretations of Simple
Twist, Love sick, Ballad of a thon Man, Desolation row. And all the pieces
chosen from a more recent past (Tempest, Modern Times, Fallen Angels,
Shadows of Night and Triplicate) show all the richness and coherence of
the repertoire. I lived a moment so intense, full of energy, power,

All the concert I stayed glued, eyes and ears riveted to the scene.

A word about the evolution of the concerts. I really appreciate the new,
not so new Hallenstadium. I knew the old room with the curves of the
velodrome where there is a big cloud of smoke because everyone was
cloppait. The first time I was there was in 1977 to see Pink Floyd, Animal
tour. Currently, everything is regulated. If you pay for the stands you do
not step on the floor even to see the scene. This is how. Everything is
said nicely though. This did not spoil me however the pleasure we had at
this memorable moment. I hope there will be more with you Mr D.
