This was a great show! The new drummer was perfect for them. Just like the very
last show at the Royal Albert Hall last year, several of the songs were almost
a cappella with just Bob on piano and very light accompaniment by the band. Some
of the more upbeat songs were rocking fairly hard, including it ain't me, babe.
Set list exactly the same as that last 2024 Royal Albert Hall show although they
did take a set break midway through. Bob in very fine voice and energetic playing,
including a little bit of guitar in the beginning and a few nice harmonica solos.
lots of great piano .. Standouts for me were many, but included a soft and
beautiful It's all over now baby blue, and almost a cappella almost spoken my own
version of you and a fine desolation row. Also loved made up my mind to give
myself to you with Bob holding those wonderful long notes. Nice crowd, nice town,
And the Bob Dylan Center here in Tulsa is worth checking out

This is like the Titanic orchestra but instead of livening up the wreckage, they
make sure you realise the ship is sinking while acknowledging the inherent beauty
to go down as decen human beings.

The constant sorrow in "decency and common sense".

The power in the "yes" in 'Made Up My Mind' and in the "no" in 'Desolation Row'.

The ABSOLUTE ALL-IN in a 'River Flow', that man seemed as if he escaped from
decades in prison to sing that. The striking contrast between 'Key West' and that
one has been insane.

The intermission, totally planned to me (won't lie that I was expecting setlist
changed after it), acted as a division between a flamboyant first half, with
'Multitudes' getting a new-ish, faster arrangement and 'False Prophet' benefiting
a lot from bringing back the album riff, and a second half greatly stripped down,
with slow numbers as 'Baby Blue' and 'Muses' being really outstanding for a first
night and, specially, an 'Every Grain of Sand' touched in a very high % by the
muse, as was 'Desolation Row'.

Bob's voice is really getting better and better, it doesn't make any sense but
here we are.

New drummer is a bit as if Drayton and Keltner had a baby? Anyway, he was really
fantastic and, more importantly, promising.

Thanks Bob, life is so much richer thanks to your live.

Her first front row performance

Highlights of 2 days in Tulsa.
Great visit with Julie Wilson Skye she knows this city!
Her house is an oasis of art and joy.

Visit the Dylan Center again.

BEGINNINGS

The Tulsa Theater is a beautiful venue, and my first front row seat at a concert!
I was surprised at the amount of standing during a show. "All Along the Watchtower"
rocked as he hunched over behind his baby grand facing the new drummer. A rare
guitar moment. We danced! A young woman named Robin introduced herself as
"Spreading love around."
She had her first Dylan experience on the front row. We were dead center.
She helped me up and down when I seemed to struggle. A sweet evening with her.

Front Row Culture: I heard stories of other performances, women stood and danced,
men shared stories. A rich experience for me.

The view: yes..I was watching his black boots under the piano and his piercing eyes
under a black hat with a shining hat band over the baby grand.
Then he would spread his legs. Jump up as an 83 year old man can, and take full
command of the piano....with his voice stronger than ever. Commanding!

At times only his voice and the piano took over. I had to look to see the others
playing. Bob Britt was also close to me so I could easily see how his guitar held
the rhythm and supported the piano leads.
Songs had new tunes, but my roomie Nancy Cobb said he had been doing these versions
a few years.
Yes, he does keep reinventing himself. The key to a long rich life.

FAVORITES
"My own version of You"
This version seemed to be a message. Probably because his voice was so clear and
strong.

"When I Paint My Masterpiece" always surprises me with the new tune and rhythm.
Feels Latin. Some say "Putting on the Ritz" or "Istanbul not Constantinople."
A wonderful version is on youtube.

We saw a beginning...again. The piano and voice just get stronger. Each song had a
piano lead. I loved my point of view, watching his body embody the songs as he both
sat and stood. Bob is on the road, and I have friends following him. I will return
to my Dancing Star Ranchita in Mountain Home and begin again!
Thanks Bob.

We came from Canada on pilgrimage. The border guard let me pass. We
ain’t "Okies" trying to get to pastures of plenty. History repeats.
Tulsa: a stop on the trail of tears. Land grabs and lynchings. First,
the Woody Guthrie Center; the offshoot Bob Dylan Center; Greenwood.
Bastions of decency. Bob says: Being on the side of the struggling is
not political. Woody says: This machine kills fascists. A distinction
without a difference. There must be someway outta here, rings out in the
Tulsa Theater, its name changed from Brady Hall for good reason. Look
it up. I wished for Man of Peace, got Desolation Row. Someone said
poetry is Conversation Elevated. What Dylan does now, with the likes of
Black Rider, My Own Version of You, comes to that. Redemption Songs.
You know what I mean, you know exactly what I mean.
