If I hadn't been to the Saginaw show earlier this month, I would have
thought the Tyler show was one of the greatest, most surprisingly
wonderful shows I have ever seen. I would give Saginaw the edge based on
sound, I remember Bob's vocals being more clear in Saginaw than Tyler,
especially when the music got louder. Also, the Michigan venue gets a
slight nod also. While Saginaw has twice the capacity, it felt like a
smaller venue. The Cowan Center has to be one of the widest small halls I
have ever been in. In Saginaw the balcony was directly over most of the
floor. In Tyler the balcony was far from the stage. Small quibbles to
be sure. Interestingly, both shows were the first time Bob played either
city. Bob and band were in fine form. My traveling companion, who is not
a huge Dylan follower, was very impressed with the musicianship and show.
Both first time cities got a treat. Thanks Bob.

The UT-Tyler Cowan Center is nicely tucked into the East Texas piney
woods. A brief afternoon thunderstorm left "nothing but a cool breeze
encircling me." People slowly strolled past the rumbling busses and red
trucks of Dylan's entourage under a cloudy sky. If you have followed Bob
from town to town like I have at times, you eventually learn that the
Prevost bus with the Harley plate on the back is where Dylan is riding. On
Tuesday afternoon, I spotted a couple of touring busses in front of the
Marriott on the Bossier City side of the river. One of them had the Harley
plate. Perhaps Bob stretched out in a hotel bed instead of camping on the
bus another night. I think it is cool that Dylan is traveling this way
from town to town along the same roads as you and me. Inside my seat was
on the fourth-row orchestra right and the sound was a lot better than in
the Municipal Auditorium the night before. Every syllable of the lyric was
clear, but I also noticed as somebody else had mentioned at an earlier
show that the seated microphone was a little clearer. I also was
surrounded by people that were simply on date night and wanted to chat
with Bob as background entertainment. They don't know that some of us are
at "church." Both shows I attended were met with standing ovations at the
end. On Wednesday day night, Bob gave a couple of fist pumps in the air
from the front of the stage. Today I saw a reel on my social media of a
guy at the Abilene show, and he was explaining that there are some of us
who are aware that we are seeing a Great Master ply his craft before our
eyes! Well said!
