The Autumn lights tour offered my wife and I a great opportunity to visit
another country to see the great man and sample a different culture along
the way. We chose Horsens as a relatively small venue for the leg and
stays in Copenhagen before and after the show added to the attraction.
Getting to Horsens itself involved a very comfortable 2 hour train journey
and views over swathes of open country and vast expanses of water. We
wandered into the small town on cool damp weather and after eating
immersed ourselves in Danish "hygge" in a small local bar unusual for
the amount of cigarettes being smoked but also the great friendliness of
the locals who boasted of being able to speak English, German, Swedish but
"definitely not Russian".!

Personal reflections of the concert itself, the intro before Bob's
appearance was long and I felt when he came and added his guitar it
provided a bit more energy. It was great to hear Blind Willie Mctell again
and across the set, the spread of periods of his work. Personal highlights
were tangled up in blue, girl from the north country and the harmonica
work on spirit on the water. I also enjoyed the periods of interplay
between the piano and the guitarists. It was great to hear I shall be
released but amusing / frustrating to see the abortive harp work , which
would have really capped the evening. I sat next to a very friendly Danish
guy there with his family, overall (like my wife!) he found some parts a
bit "slow" but he clearly enjoyed Jimmy Reed along with all of the
crowd who rewarded Bob and the band with a sustained standing ovation at
the end.

And so out into the cool and drisly Horsens weather before finding more
Hygge in a brown bar, and more amazingly friendly Danes. As ever Bob is
heading for another joint and I'm already looking forward to crossing
paths again at the Royal Festival Hall in December

Great gig, otherwise. Paterson is a delicate and amazing player,
completely alters the sound of the band with his semi-acoustic. Seal,
too, but he was playing behind a music stand, and Bob gave him cues,
kind of tutoring him through. It appears he might have been a last
minute choice, and has had very little time to learn the songs. Did
a great job, though!
