The Bob show took place amidst a lively and exuberant fairground, right
in front of the OVB Arena at the Bürgerweide Bremen Germany.
The bright, flickering fairground lights reflected into the arena hall.
But suddenly, the house lights dimmed to a soft, diffused glow, and the
stage lighting took on an atmospheric quality. The sounds and flashing
lights of the fair vanished. The band appeared, and the opening notes
filled the venue.

Then, "His Bobness" stepped onto the stage, draped in an oversized black
hoodie with the hood pulled up over his head.
Was it a fear of excessive stage volume, a precaution against a
treacherous draft that might cause a cold, a desire to remain unseen by
the fans—or perhaps just a personal quirk? Who’s to say? He remains as
mysterious as ever.

The sound was clear and pleasant. The opening track, "Watching the River
Flow," sounded familiar, though Dylan’s voice needed a moment to warm
up.

The band, however, sounded excellent from the start. By the time they
reached "Love Sick," Bob’s voice had found its footing, allowing for a
truly convincing rendition of "It Ain’t Me, Babe." The band played with
precision and passion, placing the emphasis in every song exactly where
Bob wanted it.

"Crossing the Rubicon" featured a magnificent solo by Mike Seal—it
sounded just like Buddy Holly’s Stratocaster: crystal clear and
sparkling.

Real highlights included "Girl from the North Country," which Bob sang
with great feeling and subtlety, as well as "Black Rider," "Under the
Red Sky," and "I’ve Made Up My Mind to Give Myself to You." The closing
track, "I Shall Be Released," was delivered with passion, Bob’s voice
sounding strong and clear.

It is truly impressive for an 84-year-old artist to remain so full of
music and so eager to share it with his fans. Bravo!
I had a highly entertaining evening and thoroughly enjoyed Bob and his
band—something I’ve been doing since the 1960s, back when he first
started out in Greenwich Village, New York. That spans a vast amount of
time, filled with changes, innovations, and new challenges. Every era of
Bob’s career has its own rewards—this one included.

The Arena lights came back on, the concert was over, and everyone headed
out to the fairground.

I wish him continued good health and a lot more wonderful performances!

a night full of surprises – some for me, some for everybody!
1. venue light on throughout the show – was somehow absurd, never
witnessed anything alike before. On the other hand: it's an obvious
advantage for everybody sitting far away from stage

2. There was a black thing right in front of Bob. It's called 'microphone'.
And believe it or not – his mouth was close to it all the time the was
singing!

3. Love Sick and Million Miles – yes, Million Miles Never expected to hear
it again (I heard it just three times before). And it was a great
version – the highlight of the show!

4. Almost every song had a very different arrangement than the last
time I heard it in concert and since I didn't listen to any of the falls
shows, and only to very few songs performed in 2026 there were a
hell lot of surprises for me.

5. Tangled – where have all the new lyrics gone??

6. The band – maybe the best Dylan band I've seen since… at least
Charlie's departure, maybe since the Charlie's return in 2009. I liked
both new guitarists very much.

7. The most interesting Dylan shows I've seen in many years. It
also reminded me of the NET days somehow – band starting to
play a song and people in the audience trying to figure out what it
was going to be…

8. All the unexpected changes in the setlist – who really thought
he didn't settle with the Göteborg setlist? – gave me the
impression that the NET days with everchanging setlists are coming
back (well, we'll see)

9. No Spirit On The Water – thanks, Bob!

10. I've never heard more TOOM songs than in Bremen 98 (five!).
And now 3 TOOM songs…

11. Girl From The North Country – tenderly sung, brilliant,
2019-style

12. Relatively short show … just 85-90 minutes. But no need to
be disappointed.

13. Million Miles – at first, I thought it was going to be Til I Fell In
Love, which would have been a surprise, but suddenly I realized
it was Million Miles. Amazing performance – It was left
flabbergasted (and folks who know me, also know that I'm not
easily impressed). New arrangement, of course,

Anyone who missed tonight's show will surely regret it – maybe
not today, maybe not tomorrow but for the rest of their lives,
this tour or…

The day Dylan comes back to Bremen we'll surely hear the
missing TOOM songs he never played in Bremen (Highlands,
Doorway, Not Dark Yet, and – maybe – even Dirt Road Blues)
