Review by Paul Smith
Cloaked in very subdued lighting, Bob and his mates, all dressed in black,
were a spectral cowboy band. Bob, crouched behind his piano, could barely
be made out. However, in ragged pursuit, he chased his muse across the
keys for almost two hours. His desire and concentration was truly
impressive. As others have said his voice is stronger whilst his legs are
giving way. A lovely My Own Version Of You jostled with Crossing The
Rubicon for my R&RW standouts. It's All Over Now Baby Blue has turned from
an acerbic put-down of lesser men and women to a rueful reflection of an
old man approaching an end. Every Grain Of Sand, a fitting close and he
was gone. Thank you Bob. I met Simon, over 70 I think, who returned to his
home town to see Bob - his first time. I met a 16 year old from Cornwall,
his first concert, who said that Bob's songs and guitar inspired him to
learn guitar and form a band. Hope you both found something to love. I
know I did.
